Chimera is a deadly virus that will bear a grisly death unless you are given the antidote. The creator of Chimera is murdered and the antidote is stolen by a disavowed IMF agent, Sean Ambrose. The Impossible Mission Force, IMF, hire the skilled and charming Ethan Hunt, and the beautiful Nyah Nirdoff-Hall, who has had her share with Ambrose.

Their mission, should they choose to accept it is to send Hirdoff-Hall undercover to Ambrose and learn what she can for Hunt to bring down Chimera, but they will have to break into a secure lab by jumping off buildings and dodging bullets. Its impossible. Ethan Hunt is back with another theoretically impossible mission.

Tom Cruise once again delivered at least a satisfactory performance, along with all other actors involved, but John Woo's direction was a little bit excessive at some points. I fail to see what made it necessary for Hunt to be riding his motorcycle on the front wheel while firing at an oncoming car. Or how about that gun that was lying in the sand toward the end of the film? Was that a little too unrealistic, or was it just me? The story was good, the acting was convincing enough, and the action sequences were well put together, but they were just too much.

One of the other things that really saved this film from action-packed obscurity was some very clever and well placed dialogue, particularly on the part of Ving Rhames, back once again as Luther Stickell ('Ethan! Nyah is in the building! Do you copy!' ) Despite M:I 2's shortcoming's, it will undoubtedly be very satisfying to the true action fan.

It has explosions, gun fights, car chases, lethal viruses, Jackie Chan style fight scenes, and even a hint of a few WWF moves in those fights. Mission: Impossible 2 is a good action film. I was not tremendously impressed, but I also didn't feel like I had just wasted two hours. Go watch the movie, just don't expect it to be the phenomenal gift from the action movie gods that it was made out to be.

Director/writer Christopher McQuarrie helms this big Hollywood effort like a pro-boxer in his prime on the attack, and he's not pulling any punches. In a world of big CGI superhero productions he presents a response that effectively embraces old-school actioners, and everyone onscreen gets their shot in the ring. From the streets of Paris to the mountains of Kashmir we get crash, boom, bang, movie style thrills, bigger-than-life.and yet, somehow w/o a connection to it. That's the only drawback. This is a rollicking big fun movie. Another fantastic entry to the best action franchise, putting James Bond films to shame once again.

While the beginning is still a little bumpy, by the middle of the movie it is developing into a maelstrom of excitement and wonder about how action scenes are thought of, directed and performed. The Paris chase is already pretty fantastic but the last 30 minutes top it all off, pushing the envelope with every minute and twist. Cruise keeps risking his health for his audience, I know I am on board. Perfect action entertainment.
